DRIVETRIBE social media platform launches for car enthusiasts
Do you love your motors and love social media? Well, Jeremy Clarkson’s new social media platform is just the ticket.
DRIVETRIBE is Jeremy’s latest adventure (besides The Grand Tour of course), it’s a website… social media and app platform thingy for likeminded motor heads.
How to Drivetribe
You sign in using Facebook and begin following Tribes.
Your home feed then becomes a wall of updates and social shares by the people (Tribes) you’ve started following. You can then begin engaging with the content by commenting, reposting or “bumping” content, which basically highlights the popularity of posts.
It’s like a Twitter / Reddit mash up meets motoring community.
… and despite it being a newly launched platform, it doesn’t seem short of engagement!
Initial thoughts
I surprisingly like it’s simplicity, and by incorporating features such as commenting and “bumping”, it isn’t difficult to familiarise yourself with the platform.
However, it does seem quite closed off… and limiting, which I don’t like. May be it’s designed to be like this on purpose, but I’ve never been a fan of locking people into something or keeping people out.
I’m into my cars, but I wouldn’t call myself a die-hard motor-head, so I can’t see myself using this unless it goes a little more mainstream. Likewise, it won’t be replacing popular forums such as Overclockers anytime soon.
Saying that, you can’t help but feel that Jeremy Clarkson and team is onto something, and I guess we’ll know over the coming months as the platform and community develops.
It’s still early days, so expect a comprehensive review in the future.
